02Identify the supply source

Manufacturer production, distributor supply or warehouse stock can carry different documentation.

03Check quantity and traceability

Low-volume or mixed stock may not include a manufacturer batch certificate.

04Confirm before order

Available documents, extra testing and inspection costs are confirmed in the offer.

Manufactured-to-order

Usually provides the strongest opportunity to request current factory documentation and agreed testing.

Distributor or warehouse stock

Commercial documents may be available while batch-level manufacturer certificates may be limited or unavailable.

Third-party testing

Can be checked where practical, but sample access, quantity, cost and lead time must be agreed.

Import and conformity requirements

Some certificates must be arranged before shipment.

Where an importing country requires a shipment Certificate of Conformity, pre-shipment verification or specific laboratory evidence, this must be identified early enough for the supplier, inspection body and shipping schedule.
